I've been looking into the wonderworld of neural networks lately. Wanted to see how these beasts work and after some old-style C programming, got my convolutional neural network code to work. Some of the hurdles crossed are described here. The material has been pieced together from a variety of sources, hopefully yielding a more comprehensive view than what the Web often offers....
Confined at home due to the outbreak of corona virus, I couldn't resist in playing around with some epidemy models and figure out the impact of social distancing. Amazing what one can achieve in a few days using openly available tools and information. Some thoughts on the corona virus gives some explanation why social distancing is likely to be a good idea.
I didn't like most of the WWW sites visualizing Corona data. Often too cluttered and not showing the bare bone info. So I tinkered around using data from various sites: World Health Organization, United Nations, Our World in Data and made it visible here.
Musing about time and its relativity related to our neighboring planet.
Since Mars has been so much fun, why not show me the moon?. Note the current implementation is JavaScript, thus slow. C can do it much faster, but then: Tedious programming and no garbage collection.... we'll see.
