I was wondering if there are marked differences between urban, sub-urban and rural situations with regards to the number of Covid-19 cases. Evidently, the hard part is to get the data - although one speculates that official health organizations do have case data with information regarding location of cases plus possibly other socio-economic parameters.
The canton of Zurich provides Covid-19 data per zip-code from which one can figure out the number of cases pro 1'000 residents and per town. It does however turn out, that the case numbers given are already "binned" - thus not precise by design. Whether or not the privacy argument truly applies for this, non-personal, data is unclear.... However, some towns are truly small so that case numbers have huge variances and it makes no sense to compare Covid-19 cases at a town level.
However, Covid-19 data per county is also made available in CSV format. There it does make sense to compare districts. Some differences between rural, urban, and sub-urban districts seem to exist - though other factors may also play a role. And at least, we can figure our when a given district should be put onto the list of quarantine countries by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) ... (60 cases per 100'000 in 14 days).
